We seem to be in the middle of an incredible spell of fine calm and clear weather. The seas have been glassy with essentially no wind and clear over night ( not much ‘night’ though ) gave us a great freeze
We were able to get a small team teasingly close to the summit of Jabet peak yesterday – only to be turned back by dangerously loose wet snow due to the lack of wind and intense sun. Still, an amazingly fun day getting close of 500m above the surrounding glaciers and inlets
While the mountaineering team was out gimping up and down hills – the rest of the expedition staff and passengers were at Pirt Lockroy and Jugla Bay – looking at the Historic station and more penguin colonies
Tomorrow we’re heading for Necko Harbour and then Almirante Brown Station
Ciao!
