Avalanche Awareness
A short course tailored those wanting to know the basics of understanding weather, snowpack assessment, terrain analysis, avalanche equipment and rescue techniques. An absolute must before starting your Back Country Adventures.
Duration – 1 evening / 1 Day
Cost – $150 / Pers (1:6)
$200 / Pers (1:4)
An additional day can be added for an Intro Backcountry Ski Touring day. This is aimed at further education around identifying and moving through avalanche terrain, understanding weather and applying avalanche forecast bulletins to your trip planning.

Backcountry Avalanche
This course is designed to further your avalanche education, skills and experience. You will gain valuable terrain analysis and movement skills over 4 days of education in the uncontrolled avalanche terrain.
We take you out into the backcountry every day during this MSC accredited Backcountry Avalanche Course, so you can learn from a professional guide how to make good decisions when you are out touring in the mountains.
Duration – 4 Days
Cost – $500 / Pers (1:4)
Based from Wanaka or Mt Cook Village – we will use the best weather and snow conditions to choose our training venues
Daily Helicopter access options (Mt Cook)
